TRICARE is health care insurance that is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehab services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will of course have to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any kind of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can remain in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very helpful, as it can help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehab counselors ready to help today.
