Medicare is a form of medical health insurance developed by the U.S. government for senior citizens, along with people with certain disabilities and illnesses. If an individual who has Medicare needs treatment for cases of drug or alcohol abuse, their rehabilitation will either be covered entirely by their Medicare insurance or to a significant degree. The only real exception is, the individual will have to receive treatment from a drugs and alcohol detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be permitted to begin treatment, they may also have to see their primary care physician who must state that treatment services are medically necessary, and the physician will typically approve what type of rehabilitation the person will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover different types of treatment services. Part A pays for an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program in the event that the individual should be in a hospital because of their issue, along with the costs that they will have to pay for personally are the same as any other hospital stay. Part B will partially cover outpatient rehabilitation in a Medicare accepted program, and the individual will have to cover whatever Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance coverage or they'll have to self pay.
