A group home for a person who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in a group home might be taking part in rehabilitation services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some time live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a practical short term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
