Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
