TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is more common than one would think, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is a crucial priority. Those that have TRICARE will naturally be required to have a prior approval before partaking in any type of treatment service, which is often organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility is the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which may be very helpful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
