Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities that provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
