Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be very helpful in circumstances where standard treatment facilities have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations in the women's life that happen to be unique and distressing. Such concerns may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or any other significant issues that are particular to women. Research has shown that women also can get embroiled in substance abuse more readily than men, and therefore are more vulnerable to illness due to drug abuse problems than males because of this. Due to obligations in the home, women also tend to put off searching for and receiving care for addiction, a circumstance which can lead to catastrophe.
