TRICARE is medical insurance that is offered to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to offer treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different rehabilitation services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence such as detoxification services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will of course be required to get a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehab service, which is often organized using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility could be the favored treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are particular limits concerning how much time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered.
