A group home for a person who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home might help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home may be involved in treatment services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at some point live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, yet it's a feasible temporary option for individuals who want to get their lives back together again.
