LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially unwanted. This can be a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. A LGBT facility offers an environment that is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which need to be handled so that they can get well. Treatment counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, and is also a good example of an issue that would be resolved in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence to be able to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
