Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days a week. This is very helpful for those who have just completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment choice.
