Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small number of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment alternative.
