Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days each week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities that provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab choice.
