This is sometimes a quite challenging and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of substance abuse to alleviate these feelings. Someone that is LGBT may not feel at ease inside a conventional rehab program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT program offers an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be resolved to enable them to get better. This situation is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, and is an example of a thing that can be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life free from alcohol and drugs.
