This is often a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel safe inside a traditional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT rehab provides an environment that's free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and treatment counselors issues which need to be resolved in order to get well. Treatment counselors in a LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, and is also an illustration of something which can be resolved in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free from alcohol and drugs.
