Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For an individual with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab alternative.
