Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or a few days per week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment alternative.
