TRICARE is medical insurance that's offered to members of the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is more common than one would assume, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different rehabilitation services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People with TRICARE will obviously have to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehab service, which may be arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored treatment option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it could help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehab counselors waiting to help today.
