A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services during residence, or might be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home to be able to at some time live on their own outside of the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable short-term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together.
