Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have recently completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab programs which provide treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment option.
