Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may set off drug use, or risky sexual behavior as a result of drug use may have caused the individual to contract the disease. Individuals who have HIV/AIDS, either because of their substance abuse or as a pre-existing problem prior to their drug abuse problem, typically require rehab services tailored to fulfill their specific demands and challenges. Many of these problems are physical in nature, because of the fact that drug users with HIV/AIDS almost never care for themselves and take the proper medications they need to preserve their health. Because of this, these individuals arrive to rehabilitation in very poor health and this will have to be handled as a priority while also addressing other important concerns. Apart from the obvious requirement to provide medical solutions during treatment, people who have HIV/AIDS must also deal with more deeply rooted issues which brought about their alcohol or drug use. Often, individuals have circumstances within their lives that are purely environmental which may have triggered them to use drugs or alcohol, including oppressive conditions in their lives or detrimental relationships.
