Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
