A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside inside a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could possibly be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some time live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a sensible short-term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together.
