Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment option.
