Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab option.
