Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide treatment to address both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Providing a secure environment is essential to ensure dual diagnosis clients can feel at ease and remain free from distraction from things that may cut across their program and development. Rehab counselors will work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or other things that need to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and abstinen t whenever they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which helps them develop more efficient coping mechanisms so that they are able to better deal with life circumstances more effectively once they depart dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs and alcohol as a possible option.
