Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
