TRICARE is health care insurance which is offered to people in the military of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is much more common than one would think, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to deal with alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will obviously need to have a prior approval before partaking in any type of rehab service, which is often organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about how much time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which is often very useful, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
