Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or several days per week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab choice.
