Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days a week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment programs which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
