Hearing impaired men and women tend to have an increased probability of drug abuse issues because of the impairment, and rehabilitation services should be at hand which cater to their circumstances. Those who are hearing impaired can feel alone, lack motivation, and be without goals because of the impairment. Firstly, detecting a drug and alcohol abuse problem among the hearing impaired is often a challenge, because these individuals may attempt to hide their issue as a result of social stigmas that come with abusing drugs. Having said that, alcohol and drug rehab counselors who provide treatment to hearing impaired individuals see the challenges these clients face. ASL rehab services are definitely a necessity, as are treatment services which address the unique challenges that hearing impaired individuals face. Group therapy gives a venue for important peer interactions so that rehab clients can know that they are not on their own, and that there's hope to resolve their challenge with alcohol and drugs. Individual therapy services could be more tailor-made for each person to ensure that their own personal challenges can be addressed in rehab.
