A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home to be able to at one point live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent solution, but it's a practical short-term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together.
