Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
