Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be beneficial in situations where conventional treatment facilities have not meet expectations, such as coping with situations in the women's life which are distinctive and traumatic. Such difficulties may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other really serious issues that are particular to women. Research has revealed that women can also get embroiled in abusing drugs more easily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to illness due to dependency issues than males as a result. Due to responsibilities in the home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and undergoing treatment, a situation which can lead to catastrophe. With this in mind, rehabilitation services for women are designed in order that a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Much like coed programs, alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer rehab solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. After this step, counselors help women focus on both basic and gender specific issues who have prompted their drug abuse. Women also utilize the beneficial support from their female peers, and a few centers which offer treatment services to women also provide client beds for her children.
