A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home might help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in a group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home so that they can at some point live independently away from the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a feasible short-term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
