Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or a few days a week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab option.
