Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation option.
