Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time every day or several days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation alternative.
