A group home for somebody who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and also have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home may be involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home so that they can at some point live independently outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable short term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
