Hearing impaired men and women tend to have a heightened probability of substance abuse issues because of their impairment, and rehabilitation services should be at hand which cater to their circumstances. Those who are hearing impaired can seem to be alone, lack motivation, and be without goals because of the impairment. Many hearing impaired individuals then opt to self medicate with alcohol or drugs to numb this pain and have a temporary release from the psychological and emotional problems that accompany possessing this handicap in daily life.
