Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may set off substance abuse, or dangerous sexual behavior due to drug abuse may have caused to contract the disease. People who have HIV/AIDS, either as a result of their drug use or as a pre-existing condition just before their drug abuse problem, frequently require treatment services tailored to meet their specific needs and problems. Some of these problems are physical in nature, because of the fact that substance abusers with HIV/AIDS rarely look after themselves and take the appropriate medicines they need to preserve their health. Because of this, they arrive to treatment in very poor physical shape and this will have to be handled as a priority while addressing other critical concerns. Apart from the obvious requirement to offer medical services while in rehabilitation, people with HIV/AIDS must also tackle more deeply rooted issues which prompted their alcohol or drug use. Often, individuals have circumstances in their lives which are strictly environmental which may have caused them to use drugs or alcohol, like oppressive circumstances in their lives or negative relationships. These are the issues which rehab counselors will concentrate on as part of HIV/AIDS rehabilitation services.
