A group home for a person who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. Instead of sending individuals who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in the group home may be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at some point live independently outside of the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a viable short-term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
