Dual diagnosis rehabs are facilities which provide rehab to handle both addiction and mental health issues simultaneously. Offering a safe environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can feel comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances that may compromise their treatment plan and progress. Treatment counselors will work to recognize environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or other things that must be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and abstinen t once they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral treatment which will help them develop more efficient coping mechanisms so they are able to better deal with life situations more proficiently if they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs and alcohol as a possible solution.
