Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
