As opposed to sending individuals who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. Residents inside a group home could be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some time live independently away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, however it is a viable temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
