Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be very useful in situations where standard treatment settings have fallen short, for example coping with situations within a women's life which are distinctive and traumatic. Such issues may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or other significant issues which are particular to women. Research shows that women may also become involved in drug use more easily than men, and are more predisposed to sickness because of dependency issues than males as a result.
