LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is often a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT may not feel at ease within a conventional rehabilitation center amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which have to be resolved to enable them to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, which is an example of something which will be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
