Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
