Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehab option.
