Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in situations where conventional treatment facilities have fallen short, such as dealing with situations inside a women's life which are distinctive and traumatic. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other significant issues which can be specific to women. Research shows that women also can get involved in substance abuse more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness as a result of dependency problems than males as a result. Due to obligations in their home, women also tend to put off searching for and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can lead to disaster. That said, rehabilitation services for women are designed to ensure a women's needs would be the focus and priority.
